Outreach Campaign

Since completing Made in L.A. in June 2007, there have been literally dozens of screenings where we have reached out to the community and brought diverse audiences together to watch and discuss Made in L.A.

In collaboration with Active Voice and POV, we have held two special "audience engagement" events which have brought local and national organizations together to screen and to discuss the film in a public forum. At the Roxie in San Francisco Made in L.A. drew a crowd of 300 and brought together the UC Berkeley Labor Center, KQED, Amnesty International Western Regional Office, Asian Immigrant Women Advocates, Bay Area Immigrant Rights Coalition, Global Exchange, ITVS, Mujeres Unidas y Activas, and Sweatshop Watch (read more about this event). Our screening in Washington, D.C., organized as part of the AFL-CIO DC Labor Film Festival, brought together a panel sponsored by the Center for Social Media at American University, Inclusion, Center for Community Change, National Council of La Raza, DC Lawyer Chapter of American Constitution Society for Law and Policy, and the Center for Law and Social Policy (read more about this event).

At the same time, there have been smaller, more local events organized by diverse organizations in many communities, to screen and discuss the film. We are planning to continue working on both levels as we plan an outreach tour for 2008.

THE MADE IN L.A. SI SE PUEDE U.S. TOUR 2008

We are now fundraising and planning for an extended outreach tour that will bring Made in L.A. and the issues it examines to communities across the United States. In this crucial election year, we must put a human face on these issues and hope to be able to contribute to the debate on immigration and to the continuing fight for fair and safe working conditions around the country.

Starting in March 2008, we hope and expect to be touring with the film during what we are calling the "Made in L.A. Si se puede" (U.S.) Tour. We are starting to work with unions, worker centers, local legal aid organizations, immigrant service organizations, community centers, faith-based communities, universities and student groups to bring the film to their communities. If you think you could help bring our tour to your community please contact us.

Help us make this dream come true and help Made in L.A. make an impact! Donate to this campaign (all donations are tax-deductible).
